You may have clothes hanging that would do better folded, like sweaters and t-shirts. Smaller items can be placed into built-in drawers or baskets stored in cubicles. ClosetMaid has great items to help you accomplish organization and order in all of your closets. See the Buyers Guide below for tips. We also have great deals on classic cabinet knobs, cabinet door knobs, kitchen cabinet pulls, hinges, kitchen cabinet hardware, and satin nickel hardware.
Organize Your Closet with Basic Tools and ClosetMaid Products
Step 1: Clean out your closet completely, take everything thing out and set it aside so you are looking at a blank canvass. Place all of the items in your closet and put them into piles. Sweaters, t-shirts, pants, weekend wear all have a place that is more convenient and easier to access.
Step 2: Take Measurements. Take all the measurements of your closet; height, width, depth. Make note of any trim, heating ducts, air vents or other permanent fixtures that will interfere with shelving or furniture.
Step 3: Map the Space. Using plain or graph paper draw a representation of your space. Include all of the angles and odd space. Label each line with the measurements taken earlier. Note all of the objects that can’t be moved or covered.
Step 4: View the closet organizer systems available through ClosetMaid. They have a lot of choices so take your time and browse for the right pieces that will help organize your closet. Look at all of your options, ClosetMaid has a lot of products to help with shoe, tie and belt organization.
Step 5: Purchase all of the ClosetMaid products you’ll need.
Step 6: Using the map you made earlier, begin setting up and installing the hardware you purchased. You may notice as you’re installing the new hardware you have more room for items like hooks, or storage boxes, you can purchase more once you’ve finished.
Step 7: Once everything is installed you can begin putting your items back into your closet. Sort all of the items according to how you will be storing them. Items that should be hung, what should be put into drawers, or cubicles, and what can be hung, or put on the floor.
