It’s easy for closets to become disorganized especially if you have limited or no shelving, drawers and other tools to help you. Organize Your Closet with Basic Tools and ClosetMaid Products
Step 1: Clean out your closet completely, take everything thing out and set it aside so you are looking at a blank canvass. Place all of the items in your closet and put them into piles. Sweaters, t-shirts, pants, weekend wear all have a place that is more convenient and easier to access.
Step 2: Take Measurements. Take all the measurements of your closet; height, width, depth. Make note of any trim, heating ducts, air vents or other permanent fixtures that will interfere with shelving or furniture.
Step 3: Map the Space. Using plain or graph paper draw a representation of your space. Include all of the angles and odd space. Label each line with the measurements taken earlier. Note all of the objects that can’t be moved or covered.

Step 7: Once everything is installed you can begin putting your items back into your closet. Sort all of the items according to how you will be storing them. Items that should be hung, what should be put into drawers, or cubicles, and what can be hung, or put on the floor.
